In the final analysis, Disney is about storytelling. Though the stories get told via many mediums, movies are the creative engine of Disney.

Animation has been at the heart of Disney’s moviemaking since the beginning, but live action now holds a prominent place. There are classic stories drawn from fairy tales such as Snow White and Cinderella, there are stories drawn from literature such as Mary Poppins and now Disney has expanded its cinematic storytelling by bringing under its umbrella the fantastic stories of Pixar, Lucasfilm, Marvel, The Muppets, 20th Century Pictures, BlueSky, and Searchlight Pictures. All of these have provided original ideas for the entire panoply of Disney operations.
